This is a grungy black and white street photo in portrait format of a Chinese man riding his bike along the waterfront and wearing a kasa (asian conical bamboo hat). Cheung Chau Island, Hong Kong (2014). Dominating this photo is our middle-aged Chinese man. He is riding his bike from left to right across the photo, is viewed from two metres away and is filling three-quarters of the height of the image. The camera is located one metre above the ground and directed at the man with the lower part of his legs and bike frame hidden below the base of the picture. The man is wearing a kasa also called a dǒulì in other parts of east Asia. The bamboo hat has the shape of an upturned fruit bowl, a little over half a metre wide, made from the leaves of a bamboo plant and with a strap extending under the wearer's chin for security. He is looking directly ahead, is wearing a light anorak and jeans. What is visible of the bike is that it has a dark frame and a black wire metal rack on the over the
