This is a grungy black and white street photo in landscape format of a leaking fire hydrant on the side of a city pavement with a few small chunks of ice to one side. Madison Ave, NYC (2012). In the foreground is the road surface rising up from the base of the photo to less than the quarter way up level. At the base, the surface is jet black, then becoming a lighter tone closer to the metal curb strip where the pavement start. Slightly to the right of centre is our black cylindrical fire hydrant. The hydrant is viewed from the same level and from two metres away. It rise up a little over one metre with a silver cone shaped top, peaked by a large square shaped nut. Below the cone, on the left side is a dome shaped cover with a hexagonal nut on the right side. From both the dome and the nut is a steady stream of water falling a short distance onto the pavement below. Surrounding the hydrant is a semicircle, the straight edge is formed by the curb with the curve arcing around behind the

La fotografía en blanco y negro capta el lateral de la Catedral de Santa María y San Julián de Cuenca, con su fachada de sillería de piedra caliza cortada en grandes bloques irregulares que revelan el paso del tiempo sobre la construcción gótica. En la parte superior destaca el gran rosetón, elemento que domina visualmente toda la composición. Presenta un diseño radial con pétalos lobulados dispuestos en torno a un núcleo circular central, encerrado en un marco de piedra labrada de forma ligeramente ovalada por el ángulo de la toma. Su tracería calada, típica del gótico, contrasta por la profundidad de sus huecos oscuros frente a la superficie más clara de la piedra que lo rodea, y corona de forma casi ceremonial el resto de la fachada. Justo debajo se adivinan los arranques de un triforio o galería de arcos ciegos, y algo más abajo un segundo óculo circular de menor tamaño, más sencillo en su decoración, que repite el motivo circular a escala reducida. Photographie monochrome en noir et blanc en format vertical, présentant un paysage au bord d'une rivière capté depuis une cale en pierres de taille usées par le mouvement de la marée, mais aussi par les mises à l'eau ou à sec des bateaux, les roues des charrettes, etc. La marée est relativement haute et la surface de l'eau perturbée par un léger vent mais où se reflète toutefois le ciel bien encombré de nuages, contraste, magnifiquement à mon avis, avec la géométrie ordonnée des pierres bien alignées sur la cale. La cale de pierres et un quai occupent pratiquement la moitié inférieure de la photo avec également un alors que le ciel et les rives arborées occupent la partie supérieure
