The monumental chalk cliffs and natural sea arch of the Porte d’Aval at Étretat, Normandy, photographed from the water in August 2023. The sheer white and grey cliff face rises dramatically from the turquoise English Channel, topped with green grass and a line of tiny visitors that emphasizes its immense scale. Sunlight catches the rock around the narrow arch while a vivid blue sky and scattered clouds stretch over the open sea.
