Coastal cliffs in Ynys Môn (Anglesey) at sunrise. A steep, rocky cliffside drops into a rough blue sea. At the top of the cliff a small white disused fog station can be seen. The sky is coloured pastel pink, purple, and blue with dark clouds scattered across it.

The monumental chalk cliffs and natural sea arch of the Porte d’Aval at Étretat, Normandy, photographed from the water in August 2023. The sheer white and grey cliff face rises dramatically from the turquoise English Channel, topped with green grass and a line of tiny visitors that emphasizes its immense scale. Sunlight catches the rock around the narrow arch while a vivid blue sky and scattered clouds stretch over the open sea.

Flying solo. A single vulture circles the Giant's Head, Sleeping Giant State Park, Hamden, Connecticut. May 31, 2024, 11:26 AM. Quinnipiac University, West Rock, York Mountain, Mad Mare Mountain and the village of Mount Carmel viewed from the Giant's Chest.

A deep blue sky with cotton ball fair weather clouds. From a fissured gray rock outcrop atop a mountain, we are looking out at a scene of mostly forest, broken by occasional houses and the buildings of two campuses of a university, one of which sits atop a hill. A forest of cedar and hardwoods rings the base of the outcrop, but does not block the views. The flank of a nearby peak facing us has impressive rock cliffs. Beyond that is a narrow valley and the hill with the campus. Beyond them, three long, relatively flat-topped ridges run along the horizon. A single turkey vulture soars majestically above the nearby cliffs.

Eine Schwarz-Weiß-Aufnahme einer steilen, zerklüfteten Felswand direkt am Meer. Die Struktur des Gesteins ist stark ausgeprägt mit vielen tiefen Rissen, Spalten und Flechten auf der Oberfläche. Die Felskante ragt auf der rechten Seite vertikal empor, während im Hintergrund eine ruhige, helle Wasserfläche und ein bewölkter Himmel zu sehen sind. All on your own on the cliffs of Normandy, enjoying the sweeping views of the sea, the peace and quiet, and the fresh air.

Blick von der Steilküste aufs Meer. Nach links blickt man auf den steilen Abhang mit unterschiedlich farbigen Schichten. Im Vordergrund ist Gras zu sehen. Das Sonnenlicht reflektiert in der relativ glatten Oberfläche des Meeres. Am Himmel sind einige, kleine Wolken zu sehen.
