A praying mantis upside-down on the stalk of a flower. It is very well-camouflaged in the greenery and if it hadn't moved slightly while I was looking at the flowers, I wouldn't have noticed it at all! The background is blurred greenery.

"Somebody's Watching Me" 🦗 for and

Made a new friend today called Stefano while I was climbing into bushes! (Not pictured, that's just a mantis 😂)✨

Sorry, messed up the Alt text and I couldn't edit it, so I am reposting!

This is a macro photo of a praying mantis. It is an extreme close-up side profile of the praying mantis with a dark, out-of-focus background. Their head has a prominent, bulbous compound eye with a dark spot near the centre along with two antennae extending upward from the top of their head. Below is their mouth with all the little pieces (kind of icky, not going to lie 😂) And their thorax and front leg extend out towards the left hand side of the photo.

Manto the Magnificent 🪄 for

Anybody remember "A Bugs Life?" ✨

This is a photo of a really small and bright green praying mantis on a car hood. They are standing perched on a thin, horizontal black line against a solid, vibrant red background (the part where the hood meets the front wheel side). The mantis is on the right-hand side of the photo with their abdomen curled upward and their head turned forward.

A close-up view of a green mantis standing on a textured, dark asphalt surface. The mantis has elongated limbs, with its front pair raised in a poised position, suggesting readiness. Its body is predominantly green with subtle variations in shade, highlighting the distinct shape of its head and thorax. The mantis has large, compound eyes and long antennae, which extend outward from its head. The background is blurred, emphasizing the mantis as the focal point.

The European mantis (Mantis religiosa) is a predatory insect known for its triangular head, which can rotate nearly 180 degrees. Its forelegs are adapted for grasping prey. In Poland, the species is protected, with its range expanding as the climate warms.

A green European mantis standing on a reddish textured court surface, with its head turned toward the camera and forelegs partially raised.
