Vintage clock face. It has a white background with fancy stylized numbers in black. And black dots indicating the intervals between the numbers. And black lettering making sure everyone knows that it was made by the New Haven Clock Co. in New Haven, CONN., USA. And black hands. A metal rim with a scalloped inner edge that's NOT black rings the clock face and holds a glass cover in place. The whole thing is set in a fancy, French-style, mostly white porcelain base with pink and blue pastel accents that I won't show lest immunocompromised viewers overdose on the cuteness of it all. The portion shown measures 2.5 inches across. It is a wind-up clock - which means it probably hasn't been wound since I came down with Acute Laziness Syndrome in the 1980s. I'm told that the New Haven Clock Company once employed 2000 workers who turned out over 500,000 timepieces a year at its height. Alas, it seems to have gone out of business in 1956 due to foreign competition. Parts of the old fa

Old-style Bussmann 15-amp screw-in fuse for a vintage fuse box. Blue metal with a clear window in the center showing the intact metal piece that burns and separates if too high a current flow is detected. The famous "UL" in a circle emblem for Underwriters Laboratories appears on the left just above "LISTED PLUG FUSE ISSUE NO. 14821". "Time Delay - S - Assembled in Mexico" appears near the bottom. Measures about an inch and an eighth across. A 15-amp fuse used to be standard for a typical household circuit. Fuses with higher ratings might be used for the kitchen, laundry appliances, and the anti-alien ray gun cannons up on the roof. Sometimes people would have one of these fuses pop and replace it with a penny instead of another fuse. These people often became known as cremated remains.
