Yesterday we hiked up Cerro Buenavista 1665m in the Sierra de Huetor. Beautiful views, as the name suggests, but it was probably still too hot to be walking around at these mid level altitudes and the heat certainly affected the group. We were all glad to get back to an air conditioned bar and a cold beer!

One of the European Bee Eaters I came across the other day. This is a juvenile, by the time it returns in Spring it will be as bright as it's parents. It's still beautiful even if it's not as bright as it's parents. Wishing all the birds safe migrations to their wintering grounds.
Remember folks, they don't just eat bees, they don't decimate a beehive, they eat a mixture of insects. Just a badly named.

Feuerwehr in der Luft und am Boden.
Aufnahme von Sept. 2018. Das Feuer kam schnell und unerwartet. Wir kamen gerade noch durch. Zwei Std später und 10 km entfernt immer noch Reizhusten vom Rauch der brennenden Harzgehölze. Zum Glück für die Anwohner war dann aber alles schnell unter Kontrolle.
