This little Money Spider (Linyphiidae) stayed still for long enough to get decent photos. The body length is 2.5mm.and are, obviously, really hard to identify down to species. There are hundreds of UK species, so I don't try.. They inhabit leaf litter, this one from our garden. A teeny pseudoscorpion, Chernetini sp., grabbing on to a fly's legs to catch a free ride. This is known as phoresy - the pseudoscorpion uses the fly to travel to new environments, because doing so on its own would be incredibly slow.
There's a larger pseudoscorpion the other side of the fly - you can sort of make it out through the fly's wing. I normally don't pay a lot of attention to flies but this one's mad struggles to detach the pseudoscorpions caught my eye.
