It's cheekily feeding from the edge of the flower rather than trying to get inside it, which means it's not actually doing the pollination that it should be - the flower is getting cheated of nectar!

Altro...I went for a quick walk during my lunch break on Thursday, and on a little reserve underneath some of those huge transmission towers there was a patch of grass with some tiny purple flowers that a little fleet of bees seemed particularly interested in.
I got a bunch of great bee shots, but I particularly love this one. I think I like the way it captures the sense of the continuous "on the move" that all of the bees had, as well as the vastness of the area (in comparison to the size of the bees), as well as the fact that you can see the rather large pollen quarry it's hauling around. Aside from a little sharpen, this is straight off the camera.
I'll probably stick some of the others up at some point, but the tricky part will be whittling down the selection...!

die bereits ab Mitte März in einem kleinen Busch austreibt und nach und nach ihre wollig weiß behaarten Blütentriebe 60 bis 85 cm nach oben schiebt. Im Juni bringt sie stahlblaue Blütenkugeln hervor, die sich dann ab Juli öffnen und gerne von einer Vielzahl Insekten angeflogen werden.

Ivy bees were only identified as a species in 1993, and first seen in the UK just 25 years ago in 2001!. Today they were fairly easy for me to find locally, once I'd worked out that not all bees on ivy were ivy bees!
