Enter the tunnel of darkness.

A stone doorway framed by large upright jambs and a heavy horizontal lintel opens into a dark underground corbelled tunnel beneath an ancient dry-stone rampart. The entrance leads into the shadows of the YerkapΔ± postern tunnel at the Hittite archaeological site of Hattusa in Turkey, with a faint pinprick of daylight visible in the far distance. Surrounding the entrance are weathered limestone blocks and patches of dry vegetation under the blue sky with scattered clouds.

Two huge boulders occupy most of the image, one vertically the entire left side of the photo. There is another smaller boulder that uses just over half of the right side of the image. A hiking trail squeezes between these rocks, though in real life, it's not quite as tight as it looks in the image. Beyond the boulders are some green shrubs, and past those is the view of the green Los Osos Valley and half of Cerro San Luis mountain in San Luis Obispo, California. More mountains are in the hazy distance, and the sky is blue once you get above the haze. Small silhouetted shrubbery is in the center right edge foreground, overlapping the smaller boulder. Both boulders are in the shadow of Bishop Peak, the tallest of the Nine Sisters.

This morning's walk. I managed to feel about three drops of rain. πŸ˜† The clouds looked pretty at any rate. The white poles are plastic tubes protecting newly planted baby oak trees.

Dramatic clouds are trying to form thunderstorms with colors ranging from white to grey to deep blue. Distant mountains are in the shadow of the clouds, contrasting nicely against the sky and clouds. The rest of the image is an open field of dry, brown grasses and other vegetation. There are about eight white plastic tubes perpendicular to the ground. Inside are baby oak trees. Sunrise with deep blue clouds. Although the sky is almost completely clouded, the colour tone is a rich deep secondary blue, with a narrow band of intense gold and yellow on the ocean horizon where the sun will soon appear. In the mid- and foreground silhouettes of nearby trees fill the lower right and top of the frame. Despite the cloud, it's a peaceful scene.
