Eine kontrastreiche Nahaufnahme einer tief gefurchten Baumrinde. Die Borke zeigt grobe, braune und holzige Strukturen, die von einem flächendeckenden, feinen Bewuchs aus helltürkisen und mintgrünen Flechten (Lichen) überzogen sind. Die organische Textur füllt das gesamte Bild aus und erinnert an eine topografische Luftaufnahme einer felsigen Landschaft. Ein straff gespanntes, helles Segel ragt diagonal von der rechten unteren Ecke empor und dominiert die rechte Bildhälfte. Die feine Struktur des Tuchs, die präzisen Nähte und die Verstärkungen im Gewebe werden durch das Gegenlicht plastisch hervorgehoben. Im Hintergrund erstreckt sich ein dunkler, bedrohlicher Wolkenhimmel über einer ruhigen Wasserfläche, an deren Horizont eine flache Uferlinie zu erkennen ist. Die monochrome Ausarbeitung betont die grafischen Linien des Segels und die geladene Stimmung der Natur.
