Coastal scene, Santa Cruz Island, Channel Islands National Park. A very pleasant day in the park, this photograph shows a sparkling Pacific Ocean as it meets the coastal contours of Santa Cruz Island. In the lower part of the photo, kelp hugs the shoreline, with intriguing near-shore rocks just above. The ocean (right) is a collection of deep blue colors, while the island geology and vegetation (left) in this view are tan, orange, and a variety of greens. Wispy white clouds snake across a medium blue sky (upper third).

Blick von einer erhöhten Klippe hinab auf einen weitläufigen Küstenabschnitt bei Ebbe. Im Vordergrund sind dunkle, schroff abfallende Felsen mit sprießenden Rosa-Grasnelken am Klippenrand zu sehen. Darunter zieht sich ein breiter Sandstrand entlang, an dem das ablaufende Wasser ein netzartiges Muster aus Sandbänken und gefüllten Gezeitenpools (Tide Pools) geformt hat. Vereinzelt spazieren Personen über die freigelegten Sandflächen. Dahinter erstreckt sich das ruhige, blaue Meer bis zum Horizont unter einem teils bewölkten, blauen Himmel.
