A young oak tree in an afternoon patch of light, penetrating between the larger trees to the forest floor. I like the forest because you can find magical places in the most unexpected spots.

The photo shows a young oak tree growing in a thicket among other older trees, amidst a dense undergrowth of blueberries and ferns. The forest is already shrouded in the twilight of the afternoon, but a beam of warm, afternoon light falls on the young oak tree and the fern in the foreground. A soft, diffused light falls on the oak tree in the center of the frame, contrasting with the dark parts of the forest.
