This is a portrait format photo taken in the summer of one wall of a "log built" building. The lower section of the wall is constructed of stonework, with squared off logs making up the upper portion. A larger window in the wall shows the reflection of a stone chimney which is on an adjacent wall. The corner of the wall shows how the squared off logs notch into each other. Lots of texture in this photo.

"What is this a forest for ants? " ✨

This is a macro photograph of some moss. It's a close-up view of a dense patch of green moss that was taken again, from the top of the tall wall. 😂 It is also lit up with some soft sunlight. There are a few thin, reddish stalk-like moss sporophytes which extend upward from the leafy base (kind of like trees), they are topped with tiny reddish-orange capsules. There is a shallow depth of field with a softly blurred background.

I'm no moss doctor, but I think this is some "Brown Sporophyte of Polytrichum Juniperinum" or "just some moss on a wall" as it's known on the streets. ✨

The photo is a close-up, macro view of a patch of green moss growing on the top of a really tall wall. It also has some golden-orange moss sporophytes extending upward into the air. There is also some pider silk stretch across stalks, catching the light. Rays of sunlight light up details of the moss and sporophytes against blurred background filled with soft, circular bokeh lights.

Part 2 of 2: Development, Reconstruction, and Historical Role

Golub Castle was the site of numerous historical events and reconstructions. In the 15th century, after the Second Peace of Toruń in 1466, the stronghold came under Polish administration, which changed its status and function.

In the 16th and 17th centuries, the castle began to undergo Renaissance and Baroque renovations, introducing decorative elements and more comfortable rooms. Of particular significance was the period when the castle served as the summer residence of Anna Vasa, sister of King Sigismund III Vasa, who initiated the Renaissance reconstruction, adding turrets, decorative attics, and larger windows.

In modern times, the castle lost its military significance, becoming a more representative residence and cultural venue.

Today, Golub-Dobrzyń is famous for hosting the International Knights’ Tournament, which takes place in the castle courtyard, attracting tourists and history buffs. The castle is one of the most important monuments in the region, combining medieval architecture with the rich history of Poland and the Teutonic Order.
