This is a black and white water sports photo in landscape format of the rear of a surfboard protruding out of a brilliant white and swirling mass of foaming surf. Hermosa Beach (2014). The entire image is overflowing with the maelstrom of boiling surf from a breaking Pacific wave. The foaming water is brightly lit by the still low morning sun. Below the centre of the photo is the surfboard. The camera is located a few metres above and a few metres away from the board. Only the back and part of the mid section is visible, the remainder is hidden beneath the angry surf. The board is angled downwards towards the lower left corner, with it's edge angled towards the camera so little of the top or bottom surfaces are in view other than the one or two of the shark like fins on the underside of the board.
