This is a black and white water sports photo in landscape format of a female teen surfing shortly after sunrise. Hermosa Beach, California (2013).

Stretching from the right edge of the photo to a little less than the half way across point is a fierce braking Pacific wave. The wave which is now a little less than two metre high, is moving from right to left, viewed from two metres above and a few metres away from the closest point. The wave has multiple streaks or lines extending at right angles to the wave, from the crest and out to sea. Ahead of the breaking wave is our young female surfer. She is positioned slightly to the right of centre in the maelstrom of white foaming surf and is in motion diagonally across the photo from the centre towards the lower left corner. Our surfer is viewed from the front, with her standing on the board sideways (standing on the board and facing to the left).
