First frame on the roll. The left half was already fogged when I loaded the film, so the wood only gets the right-hand side.

I kept it for the edge where the white stops.

📷 Canon AE-1 · Ilford HP5 400

Slender bare tree trunks and thin tangled branches rise through thick fog that fills the upright frame in soft grey. Nearer trunks are dark and clearly drawn; those behind fade into pale vertical bands, and the topmost twigs dissolve into the light. A leaf-strewn floor with low dark shrubs runs along the bottom. The left edge of the picture is blank white, roughly a fifth of the width, ending in a soft uneven border that brightens the nearest trunk into a pale silhouette. Black-and-white photograph on 35mm film, with visible grain.

„Fels & Meer /// Rock'n'Sea“

A black and white photograph of a steep, rugged rock cliff next to the sea. The texture of the stone is highly detailed with numerous deep cracks, crevices, and lichens on its surface. The rock edge rises vertically on the right side, with a calm, light water surface and a cloudy sky in the background.

🇬🇧 A black and white photograph of a modern, curved glass facade of a building. The window panes show distorted reflections of other surrounding buildings and a small part of the sky. Above the glass front, a light-colored roof structure with metal support beams is visible.

Test Photos in Black and White in Gloomy Fog, Part VII

The path keeps going. You just cannot see how far.

📷 Canon AE-1 · Ilford HP5 400

📍 Wienerwald (Vienna Woods), Austria

Straight off the scan

A narrow dirt path leads straight into the centre of the frame through a dense stand of bare, slender trees. Thick fog fills the background, making the trees fade progressively from dark silhouettes in the foreground to pale grey outlines and finally disappear into white haze. The forest floor is covered with fallen leaves, darker and more textured near the camera. No sky is visible; the mist fills the upper portion of the frame evenly. Black-and-white photograph on 35mm film, with visible grain.
