Standing on a dark gray rock outcrop a few feet above the shore of a lake in the deepening blue gray twilight of post sunset. The sky is filled with wispy swirls of cloud, tinted bright pink with dark purple shadows by the recently set sun. This is mirrored almost perfectly on the very slightly rippled lake surface. A forest of mostly leafless hardwoods with a few evergreens encircles the lake, mostly silhouetted by the dim evening light.

Beneath a soft blue sky we are walking through a sun-dappled forest in late spring. The canopy overhead is approaching full coverage, but the leaves are still the vibrant emerald green of springtime. The forest floor is carpeted with lush green grass and a few small green leafy shoots. A patchwork of soft shadows and golden sunlight plays across it.

We are hiking a trail high up a mountainside through a forest where bright green spring leaves are just beginning to emerge. The leaves are still very small, allowing a lot of sun to reach the forest floor. where leafy shoots are also beginning to sprout through last autumn's fallen leaves. The cloudless sky is a deep blue, with a bright afternoon sun shining down through the treetops ahead.

A deep blue sky with puffy white clouds partially silhouetted by the sun, which is setting behind a low wooded ridge on the far shore of a lake. A soft breeze is gently rippling the lake, creating a long wavy streak of golden orange reflecting the sun. That streak ends in a small patch of water grasses a few feet offshore, but the nearest ripples catch shifting blobs of that golden light. We are sitting on a flattish gray rock slightly curved in front at the near edge of the lake.

Standing on a gray rock outcrop on the shore of a pond. A small shrub covered with bright red buds is growing through a crevice just in front of us. The sky is filled with dark gray clouds, with a small break along the horizon across the pond. The sun is peeking through this break as it sets over a low ridge on the wooded far shore, tinting the sky around it bright yellow, mirrored on the pond below.

We are following a ravine up a mountain. Its sides slope steeply up to our right and left. The floor of the ravine and both slopes are covered in large gray boulders and fallen tree trunks and branches. It is now full spring; the trees are covered in leaves that are still a brighter green than in summer. Through the trees, we see glimpses of a deep blue sky with a few puffy clouds.

A pale blue evening sky. Looking up a small hillside covered with lush green grass and low leafy ground cover. At the top of the low hill is a plateau hosting a forest of mature hardwoods. The sun is rather low in the sky, shining towards us through the branches of that forest. On a gray rainy day we are standing atop the rocky cliffs of a high headland on the Atlantic Ocean with a few leafless shrubs atop and two battered small pines poking up from the cliff side. Waves are breaking on a large beach of beige sand backed by a band of pine trees on the far side and some wetlands and then a small lagoon to our right. A steep rocky prominence with sparse tree cover known as the Beehive rises above the lagoon. Beyond the pines is an empty parking lot for the beach and a glimpse of the park road. Everything else is forests. Other than another pine forest on our left and scattered pines on and around the Beehive the trees are mostly leafless hardwoods.

Part of a huge field of tall, bright green spring grass. A pale blue gray sky with streaks of hazy thin clouds. The sun is setting behind the hardwood forest at the far edge of the field, streaming golden rays of sunlight towards us and casting long shadows across the field. Dozens of dandelions are scattered throughout the grass, the sunset backlighting their bright white floss attached to tiny seeds ready to be dispersed by the winds.

In a forest we are looking at a close-up of two branches of a shrub with clusters of pink blossoms with long, pointed petals and long stamens projecting from their centers. In the out-of-focus background through the trees we can see a lake. The sun has set behind the wooded far shore tinting the horizon orange. It is still early spring here. Two old trees in the foreground growing beside a lake are just beginning to show signs of budding. Other trees growing nearby are covered in bright red buds. The early evening sky is a light but deep blue. The sun, setting behind the treetops across a small cove, is a ball of golden orange, its reflection broken into a long trail of sparkles by the rippling surface of the lake.

In a lush hemlock forest a stream swollen by spring rains cascades over near vertical rocks for about 50 or 60 feet into a pool formed n a bowl shaped depression at their base.
