Slightly offset below is a still closed bud, on which a fly wrapped in dewdrops is still slumbering. ••• Starkes Gelb eines wilden Sonnenhutes vom Feldrand, trifft auf mildem grün-verschwommenen Hintergrund ihr Zentrum in der Bildmitte. Leicht versetzt unterhalb ist eine noch verschlossene Knospe, worauf eine in Tautropfen gehüllte Fliege noch schlummert.

Lappländischer Scheckenfalter - Euphydryas iduna - Lapland fritillary, Finnisch-Lappland, Suomi, Juni 2026

Ein cremeweiß und orangebraun gebänderter Falter sitzt mit geschlossenen Flügeln an einem Zwergstrauch mit wenigen nadelartigen Blättern an den oberen Zweigenden. Der Ansitz und der Schmetterling liegen in der Schärfeebene, die aus Moosen und weiteren Zwergsträuchern bestehende Umgebung verläuft in die Unschärfe.

For all the paw stretching that MacReady was doing this afternoon, I couldn't catch a single clear shot. I'm talking 300 frames. I haven't felt so frustrated or useless since at least last week.
