Another candelabrum tree, Thuja plicata, redcedar, on a street corner. It overpowers the house next to it and intimidates pedestrians. As it should.

A multi-trunk redcedar looms over a sidewalk in a Seattle neighborhood. The tree has a rough red-gray bark. I count eight smaller trunks rising from the base, most shooting straight up. There are a couple of trunks leaning right and left. A couple of trunk-sized branches are growing out of main stems. There is a foam of English ivy at the base of the cedar, and you can see the brightly lit sidewalk off to the left leading away from the tree.

Ein mächtiger, dicht mit grünem Moos bewachsener Baum dominiert den Vordergrund dieses urigen Waldstücks. Seine knorrigen, weit ausladenden Äste hängen schwer herab und sind über und über mit weichen Moosteppichen bedeckt, die im durchscheinenden Sonnenlicht fast neongrün leuchten. Im Hintergrund erstreckt sich ein dichtes Dickicht aus sommerlichen Sträuchern und Bäumen, deren Blätterdach das Tageslicht sanft filtert und den gesamten Waldboden in ein geheimnisvolles, smaragdgrünes Licht taucht.

Die organische Textur füllt das gesamte Bild aus und erinnert an eine topografische Luftaufnahme einer felsigen Landschaft.
