As usual there has been no regeneration. Recently the land has been left ungrazed all summer and seedling trees appear, then the owner sticks cattle on for winter grazing and they all disappear. Now the collab is with termites. They had tunneled the handle of an abandoned shovel (and left long before I found it), so I sliced it to reveal the structure.

Altro...Another walk on the Yarra River Trail today brings some fluffy new family members to the area. Here we have some Australian Wood Ducklings foraging through the grassy riverbank, with (I believe, based on the feathering) mumma in the background.
Passers by were happily observing and quietly snapping shots of the family of at least 8 ducklings plus the two parents. Aside from a small Mynah close by that was flying about and being a bit of a nuisance, the ducks and ducklings where largely unbothered by their celebrity status and were much more interested in what they could find on the ground.
